About Marla K. Floyd

Born in Mansfield, Ohio, Marla Floyd earned a Bachelor of Arts in Art from Michigan State University. After graduating, she began her career as an art teacher in the Auburn Hills School District in Michigan. In 1975, she relocated to Boca Raton, Florida, where she taught art at Boca Academy for several years. Although she later transitioned into a successful business career, art remained a lifelong passion, providing a creative outlet that she continued to cultivate throughout the years.

Although her professional career took her in a different direction, Marla never stopped creating. Over the years, she continued to develop her artistic skills through independent study, dedicated practice, advanced workshops, and courses at the Boca Raton Museum of Art. Working in a variety of mediums—including oil, acrylic, watercolor, pastel, and pen & ink—she has developed a style that reflects her appreciation for color, light, texture, and the quiet beauty found in both nature and everyday life.

In addition to painting, Marla is an accomplished photographer. Her photography serves as both an artistic pursuit and a source of inspiration for many of her paintings, allowing her to capture unique perspectives, landscapes, wildlife, and moments that influence her creative process.

Marla has also enjoyed success as an author and illustrator. She wrote and illustrated the children's book The Pink Poodle and created a detailed, hand-drawn artistic map of Sanibel and Captiva Islands.

Today, Marla continues to create original paintings and photographs, sharing her passion for art through works that celebrate the beauty of the natural world and the places that inspire her.
